Ron Tesoriero was present to capture on film the statue weeping: "When we were filming interviews with witnesses at the owner's home on the afternoon of the 22^nd of August 1995, we noticed that the eyes of the statue had become moist.  Later that evening our camera recorded this extraordinary occurrence.  If you watch closely now you will see that a tear has just welled about an inch below the right eye.  The tear moves slowly down the cheek and eventually falls."
